My Story

On 23rd April 2017, I will be running The London Marathon. As a way of marking this huge personal challenge, I will also be raising money for littlelifts.

littlelifts was established in late 2016 by my friend Oa. In July 2014 Oa was diagnosed with primary breast cancer at the age of 28, just over a month later she started her chemotherapy treatment at The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. During her treatment Oa was inspired by many of the gifts she was given by friends and family to relieve some of the symptoms of chemotherapy, and to give her that ‘little lift’ that she needed. It was this inspiration that led to the concept of littlelifts which was launched in late 2016. littlelifts will be working with The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital to provide women diagnosed with primary breast cancer a littlelifts Comfort Box. These boxes will contain a variety of small items, each selected to provide practical support & emotional wellbeing to women during their chemotherapy treatment.

In terms of my training, I am on track and am currently up to 18miles. It certainly isn't an easy challenge, and has involved many sacrifices along the way. You can read more about my training on my blog https://runfattymum.wordpress.com/

As an extra motivator on the day I would like to 'dedicate' each of the 26 miles to a different supporter (the final .2 of a mile is just for me!). So, for the first 26 people who sponsor me £20 or more I will allocate a mile, and run that mile 'for you'. You can also pick a song for my playlist for that mile, as motivational or otherwise as you like (let me know your song choice in your comment). I will be immortalising the 26 names on my body mehow on the day - either by temporary tattoo, sharpie or with ribbons, decision is yet to be made!

I have also been very lucky to receive a number of prize donations from local companies to help me with my fundraising and will be holding a 'guess my finishing time' competition soon.

Thank you for your support, it means everything and really will help me get round those miles.
